- 1REAL THING
Bring something useful, confusing, annoying, or interesting.
- 2USEFUL RESULT
Get help with the thing instead of sitting through setup.
- 3STEER
Add context, correct direction, change assumptions, revise.
- 4CHECK
Learn when an answer matters enough to verify.
- 5TRANSFER
Leave knowing how to use ordinary ChatGPT independently.
What happens when you start
You open a shared ChatGPT conversation seeded with HomeRoom context, then continue it in your own ChatGPT account. The public shared preview is the doorway; your continuation is your own conversation.
What if I don't know what to ask?
Bring a real thing anyway: a draft, decision, confusing message, file, screenshot, plan, or problem. HomeRoom helps turn that into a workable starting point.
What HomeRoom teaches
Usefulness, context, iteration, steering, skepticism, verification, privacy judgment, and independence.
What HomeRoom deliberately avoids
It avoids prompt mysticism, certificates, dependency loops, fake mastery, and pretending AI is always right.
Privacy and conversation ownership
Umkay cannot see your private ChatGPT continuation, does not collect transcripts, and does not require an Umkay account. OpenAI documentation says continuing a shared conversation creates a separate private conversation in the recipient's account.
Pass it on
If it helps, send someone to Umkay rather than sending them a lecture about AI.
